Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate is a highly effective emulsifier. This product can be used alone in water to create an auto-emulsifying system, or it can be used in oil and water emulsion systems. Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate is derived from olive oil, and is very gentle, making it an ideal emulsifier for use in sensitive skin care lines as well as natural or clean skin care lines. Because this emulsifier is olive oil-derived it is highly moisturizing, and leaves a silky, supple feel on the skin.

- Can be blended with water to create an auto-emulsifiying system. Higher concentrations of Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate will produce a creamy substance, and lower concerntrations will produce a light gel-cream.
- Leaves a soft, silky texture on the skin when added to skincare formulations. Known to have humectant properties.
Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate should be used at 2 - 8% depending on the formulation, and can be used as the only emulsifier in a system. If this ingredient is being added to the oil phase of a formulation, it should be melted at 158 - 167°F. If added to the water phase, it should be added and then slowly heated to 158°F.
Homogenize for a a few minutes, and then cool slowly while mixing. It will reach its final viscosity in about 24 hours. Generally this product is added to the water phase first, and the oil phase is added slowly after. However, this process can be inverted if using Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate at 2 - 3%.
